Becoming a Sponsor
The 4th International Conference on Information and Communications Technologies and Development, ICTD2010, the premier inter-disciplinary conference on ICTs and development, is inviting sponsors for the upcoming conference on 13th-16th December 2010.
At the most recent ICTD conference in Doha in April 2009, there were more than 340 registered participants from 58 countries; a fifth of all participants also received scholarships. Without sponsors for that conference, many of the best speakers, particularly from poorer parts of the world, would not have been able to participate.
We intend to make ICTD2010 bigger, better and more diverse than its successful predecessors, but to do this we need the assistance of sponsors and partner organisations. We are aiming for around 500 participants, and given that many contributors will be from developing regions, we are inviting organizations working in the field of ICTs for Development to consider becoming Conference Sponsors. Sponsorship will go primarily towards travel and accommodation of invited speakers, travel grants for authors of accepted papers (especially younger researchers and those from the world’s poorer countries who could not otherwise attend), and to reduce the registration costs for participants. We will work with partners and sponsors to help them use ICTD2010 to profile their contributions to this field. Only through such support will we be able to ensure the excellence and diversity of the conference.
ICTD is an affiliation-neutral academic conference whose continuation depends upon the support of the academic, industry, and civil society research communities working in the field of information and communication technology and development. There are four basic levels of sponsorship as described below, but we are also eager to discuss alternative packages of support from organisations. These could include volunteer support, resources for publications, delegate bags, advertising space, as well as financial contributions. There will also be opportunities to host receptions, entertainments, and other specific activities during the conference. Separate opportunities exist for publishers to display relevant materials, and for organisations to rent exhibition booths. For all enquiries about becoming a conference sponsor or partner, please contact the Conference Chair, Professor Tim Unwin at chair[at]ict4d.org.uk.
